The End of Another Chapter

Thursday, June 19, 2008, my parents’ property was sold. I was told it would be the last time we could go there. I went and took these pictures. Keep in mind that my Father built this home. It raised us kids and kept a roof over my parents’ heads the sixty plus years they were married. Because it wasn't built when the city required certain codes...the house will be torn apart. Even though the house was small...it holds wonderful memories. The apple tree had a swing in it. I spent many hours curled up in the apricot tree reading books. The attic was kind of creepy (because of the spiders), but was also a secret hiding place. I would take my dolls up there and have "tea" parties. The poles on the front porch were fun to swing on and my friends would have contests to see who could go the highest and farthest. Before my parents replaced the garage, there was a basketball hoop at the back where I spent many hours playing. We also had a pole with a tetherball. We always had a big garden. I learned how to plant (and weed) and also how to can the vegetables that we grew. There is nothing like homegrown food. It was a bitter/sweet day for me. I'm grateful that the property is finally sold, but it is the end of another chapter in my life.
