A New Beginning

On Oct. 14th (2009) at 11:46 PM, our newest grand-daughter was born. Lya Yunuen Uhrey weighed in at 8.4 lbs. and 21 1/2 inches long. She has beautiful dark brown hair and is gorgeous. Her mommy, daddy and Grandma Mendoza were the first to greet her into this world along with the doctor and nurses. Her daddy told me that her cry was music to his ears. Grandpa Mendoza, Marc, and I were downstairs in the waiting room waiting for the joyous news.

Let's back up this story for a minute. Three years ago, Yuni told Ryan that she thought their first child would be a girl born on his birthday. It happened! Happy Birthday Ryan and Lya.

What a wonderful day! A new beginning for Ryan, Yuni, and Lya. A new grand-child for Marc and I to love and adore. What a great addition to our wonderful family. Happy Day!!!

Fuzzy Thingys

This is my new hobby.
I wanted to make Lexi some pretty ponytail holders
and have made so many that now I'm considering selling some.
I asked my neighbor, Alyssa, if I could use her as a model
and she was kind enough to agree.
I've had so much fun looking at all the different types of yarn
and crocheting them.
When Lexi wears her brown ones...she looks like she
has a messy bun. They are really cute!
Here are a few examples. I have so many different colors.
If anyone is interested, please let me know.

Beckond

Ryan is in a band called Beckond.
The members are:
Bass Guitar: Brad Cottrell
Drums: Brody Wintle
Keyboard: Jared Dinsdale
Lead Singer and Guitar: Ryan Uhrey
Lead Guitar: Trent Wintle
They are really good!!! I love to go and listen to them.

Andrea's Temple Day

I can't tell you what a thrilling day it was to see Andrea go through the Temple for the first time. Her special day was March 14, 2009 at the Ogden LDS Temple. Andrea and I had to be there by 2:30 pm. It was such a wonderful feeling to have Marc, Alisha, Jason, Ryan, and Yunuen there to support her. My sister, Sharlene, was able to come. Many of Andrea's closest friends were there. It was a day our family will never forget. After the Temple, Jason and Alisha picked up Jarem and Alexa and we went to one of Andrea's favorite places to eat...The Sizzler. The following are pictures taken after the Temple Ceremony.

Little Things in Life...

Today, my phone rang and when I answered it, I heard the sweetest little voice say, "Hi!" It was Lexi. She sounded so excited to talk to me. It made my whole day!

This made me start thinking how it is the little things that makes life so worth-while. I decided to write my thoughts on a few of them.

I have a friend, Anne, that blogs and the other day she told me that she liked my blog. Thanks Anne...that got me motivated to do this.

Recently Alisha had a piano recital and I watched Jason, Alisha, Ryan, and Andrea perform. It was awesome! They have all touched me with their talents and abilities to write music.

I've watched Yuni adjust to life in Utah and have been so proud of her. She's a wonderful addition to our family.

Jarem sends me little notes on Pet Society (a Facebook game). I love it! They are usually just random keyboard letters, but it melts my heart.

I love watching movies with my husband. It is calm and relaxing. Some of my favorite times are in the evenings.

Marc and I can't miss "Heroes" or "Lost" on TV. Everything stops at the Uhrey home to watch these two shows. It's great!

The other day, I watched the most beautiful sunset. It was every shade of yellow, orange and red that you can imagine.

I teach Primary and love watching the children. They always amaze me at how well they know things. It's a great calling.

I will have to write more later. It is now time for me to go and teach piano which is another one of my favorite things. I feel a song coming on. :D
